Platinum’s Kamiya Hopes Next-Gen Nintendo Switch Will Still Be Portable – Druful

Platinum Vice President Hideki Kamiya has given his approval to the Nintendo Switch. Kamiya likes to play games while on the go or when he’s lying around the house, and that’s the reason he loves the machine.

Kamiya said he hopes Nintendo sticks with the home console/handheld hybrid approach. Kamiya said that he feels it’s difficult for him to actually play games in front of the TV.

I like the Nintendo Switch because I like to play games in portable mode, and that is the main reason I like it. I hope that Nintendo has a portable element so that I can play games as I lie down, whenever the new hardware arrives.

Platinum has created multiple titles for Nintendo. Bayonetta 1 and 2 are two of the studio’s other games that have been made available on the platform.

The Switch has been a smash hit since its release in March of last year. The Nintendo Switch is currently the fifth best-selling game system of all time, trailing the PS2, Nintendo DS, Game Boy/ Game Boy Color, and the Sony PS4.

Nintendo has consistently said it has no plans to release the “Switch Pro” model, and we don’t know much about the next hardware from Nintendo. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said the company is working hard to avoid the same mistakes it made when it transitioned from Wii to Wii U and DS to 3DS. Furukawa confirmed at a Nintendo financial results Q&A that Nintendo was still discussing the concept and timing of its next generation machine.

Kamiya shared stories of his entrance into the games industry and his love for retro games in an interview with IGN. Bayonetta 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch later this month.
